The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Could Fix That

Each time a major awards ceremony draws close, one notices a demand for the addition additional classifications to honor underappreciated efforts and delight the passions of followers with niche passions.

My colleague previously argued supporting a scary games classification. It would be amazing. The same goes for strategy board titles, which is a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist when I prioritize just as with other single-minded supporters, there's a strong justification backing this proposal stands as crucial and important of all. This is the request: It's essential to create a category for puzzle games.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Organizing artistic expressions defies precise measurement; it remains highly personal, and inevitably spark debates and end in fuzzy definitions. It's understandable that film award organizations don’t do it. But it is an unavoidable compromise in the world of video games, which are so diverse they barely qualify as a single art form.

To recognize the complete range of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, and for games of all stripes to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Existing Game Classification System

The major gaming awards currently feature award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these award types actually cover a lot of ground, making space possible accommodating various experiences.

Not so for logic-based experiences. No suitable classification appears to accommodate them. Examine these examples from outstanding current releases, each quite distinct: structural challenges of one title, fast-paced pattern recognition in a different title, engaging interpersonal challenges of a third title. What category would fit them among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

Recognition Challenges

Many instances occur of brilliant puzzle games released every year lacking appropriate categories during gaming ceremonies, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive small studio competitions.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated in any category during that awards season
  • Another creative title was excluded during that ceremony
  • Well-received sorting experience received no acknowledgment that year
  • Just some puzzle games scraped into independent or mobile categories

Value of Brain-Teasers

Commonly they're modest productions, yet the craft behind logic titles carries substantial weight. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as most engaged experiences worldwide maintaining this status for many years.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges popular creative games competing to become most purchased experience; it additionally competes as greatest title ever. Logic titles represent cornerstones to the art of video games, and engaging with almost every other genre.

The Solution and Justification

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter this problem. One could readily select multiple candidates interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — actually, with challenge, given the need to exclude so many good games out.

Restating the point, these include experiences without proper classification at major gaming awards. Logic title developers operate at the demanding boundary of video game design, producing among the purest expressions of gaming itself. Comparable to film action specialists, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay decades.
